      This Indenture made and entered into this Eighth day of
January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and Forty One between John Kinder and Martha his wife, of
the County of Macoupin and State of Illinois, of the first part
and Reuben H. Holden & Jefse Cook, the first of the County of
Montgomery and State aforesaid the other of Macoupin County
Illinois of the second part Witnefseth:  that the said party of
the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Eleven
hundred dollars, in hand paid. the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey & confirm
unto the said party of the second part, their heirs & afsigns
power, the following described Real Estate, situate, lying
and being in the County of Macoupin & State of Illinois
towit:  So much of the East Half of the South East quarter
of section so. Ten as lies South of the Cahokia Creek in said
County containing sixty acres, more or lets. (Township so. 8
North Range 6 West of 3rd pm. meridian, and the East Half
of the South East quarter of Sec. 11 Township & Range as
aforesaid and the South West gr. of the South West gr.
of sec. 12 and the South West gr. of the South East gr. of
Seen. 11 all in Townp 8 North Range so. 6 West of 3 pm. meri-
dian; together with all and singular the hereditanents and
appurtenances, thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining
      To Have and To Hold the above described premises
unto the said party of the second part their heirs and
afsigns forever.  And the said John Kinder, the aforesaid
premises unto the said party of the second part, their heirs and
afsigns, against the lawful claim or claims of all persons
whatever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these
presents.  In Testimony Whereof, the said party of the first
part, have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals

   Macoupin County        I J.N.C. Jay an acting justice
of the peace of said county, do hereby certify that John Kinder &
Martha his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed
of conveyance, and who are personally known to me to be the
identical persons who executed the same, this day appeased
before me, and severally acknowledged that they had signed
sealed and delivered the same, as their free act and deed for
the uses and purposes therein exprefsed:  And Martha wife
of the said John Kinder, having been by me made ac-
quainted with the contents of said deed, and being by
me examined separate and apart from her said husband
acknowledged that she had executed the same, and re-
linquished her right of dower in and to the premises
therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely and without compulsion
